Our Story

Let’s Be Friends began in 2020 when Bridget, living in downtown Indy, found herself feeling isolated during the height of the pandemic. Trying to meet people through friendship apps was tough, and meet-ups often felt like a first date, but worse - anxiety-inducing and super awkward. To make things easier for herself and others in the same boat, she created a Facebook group to connect women in the area and organize group meet-ups. The idea was simple: take the pressure off one-on-one interactions and create a space where women could come together, make friends, and just enjoy connecting.

 

As the group grew, Emily, a recent transplant to Indy, came across the group and instantly felt like it was the community she had been looking for. She was a quiet observer for a while before jumping in early in 2024 to help plan events and expand the group’s reach. Bridget and Emily became quick friends, and with their combined energy, along with the amazing members of the group, the community grew rapidly.

What started as a small group of women hoping to make new friends has now blossomed into a thriving community of nearly 14,000 members. Today, Let’s Be Friends has a vibrant online presence and hosts a variety of in-person events each month, creating opportunities for women to meet, support local businesses, and build lasting connections. Our mission has always been the same: to help women form meaningful friendships in a way that’s fun, relaxed, and supportive.
